The golden rule: heavy things in small boxes, light things in large boxes. A large box full of books is too heavy to lift safely and more likely to split.
How to pack fragile items
- Line the box. Put a layer of bubble wrap or scrunched paper in the bottom.
- Wrap each item separately. Plates are stronger packed on their edge, like records, than stacked flat.
- Fill the gaps. Nothing should move when you gently shake the box.
- Seal and mark it. Tape the top and bottom, and write "fragile" and "this way up" on the sides.
A labelling system that makes unpacking easy
- Write the room on the side, not the top. Sides stay visible when boxes are stacked.
- Add a short contents list, so you can find the kettle on day one.
- Number your boxes and keep a list, so you know everything arrived.
- Mark the essentials box to travel with you, not in the truck.

Two sizes: large ($5) for lighter items like clothes and linen, and small ($3.50) for books and heavier household items. Bubble wrap is sold per metre ($1/m).
Do I have to buy supplies from you if I book a move?
Not at all. Many customers use their own or recycled boxes. We just supply what makes your move easier if you’d like us to.
How is packing labour charged?
If you’d like us to do the packing, it’s billed by the hour with a 2-hour minimum, and packing materials are charged separately.
